Challah French toast

(Serves 4)

Ingredients:

  • 4 large eggs

  • 1 cup whole milk (or any milk of choice)

  • 1/4 cup heavy cream (optional for extra richness)

  • 2 tbsp sugar

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • Pinch of salt

  • 8 slices of challah (about 1-inch thick)

  • Butter or oil for frying

  • Maple syrup, powdered sugar, or fresh fruit for serving

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Batter:

    • In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

  2. Soak the Challah:

    • Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and add a bit of butter or oil.

    • Dip each slice of challah into the egg mixture, letting it soak for about 20-30 seconds per side. Ensure it’s fully coated but not falling apart.

  3. Cook the French Toast:

    • Place the soaked slices onto the heated skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through.

    • Adjust the heat as needed to prevent burning.

  4. Serve:

    • Serve warm with maple syrup, powdered sugar, fresh fruit, or even a dollop of whipped cream.
