Challah French toast
(Serves 4)
Ingredients:
4 large eggs
1 cup whole milk (or any milk of choice)
1/4 cup heavy cream (optional for extra richness)
2 tbsp sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp ground cinnamon
Pinch of salt
8 slices of challah (about 1-inch thick)
Butter or oil for frying
Maple syrup, powdered sugar, or fresh fruit for serving
Instructions:
Prepare the Batter:
In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
Soak the Challah:
Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and add a bit of butter or oil.
Dip each slice of challah into the egg mixture, letting it soak for about 20-30 seconds per side. Ensure it’s fully coated but not falling apart.
Cook the French Toast:
Place the soaked slices onto the heated skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through.
Adjust the heat as needed to prevent burning.
Serve:
Serve warm with maple syrup, powdered sugar, fresh fruit, or even a dollop of whipped cream.
